During my 9 years experience in the Beauty Industry and the past 5 years of passion for skin, acne is one of the most common issues I have coming through the door wanting treated. It is all about doing it correctly and doing the right things both at home and in clinic.
Number one priority is understanding your home care/ skincare regime, and determining what could be done better. Little things such as washing your face with tepid, low pressure water, rather than using a cloth or washing your face under a blasting hot/hard shower head. Small adjustments can make a simple change to how the skin responds.
I do offer a FREE Total Face Consult for all skin concerns to see what I can do to help. (Details below)
I have many clients wanting scripts for a course of Roaccutane, doxycycline until they realise what damage can be done post treatment. Below explains briefly about Roaccutane and lists the side effects that can be caused.
Roaccutane capsules contain an active ingredient isotretinoin. Isotretinoin is an ingredient which belongs to a group called Retinoids which is a derivative from Vitamin A.
Acne is caused by an over production of sebum and over active sebaceous glands. The sebum blocks the sebaceous glands which prevents the oil from flowing freely, bacteria feeds on the sebum and produce waste products and fatty acids that irritate sebaceous glands causing them to become inflamed and produce a spot.
Isotretinoin decreases the size and activity of the sebacceous glands in the skin, which reduces the sebum production, reducing bacteria and inflammation.
However, Roaccutane isn't as amazing as it sounds, yes it takes all those horrible breakouts away, but the side effects and the long term effects aren't so amazing.
It is very common to have these side effects;
Common Side Effects (affect between 1 in 10)
Rare Side Effects (affect between 1 in 1000)
Very Rare Side Effects (affect between 1 in 10,000)
